University of Cincinnati redshirt freshman Mason Lenhart (Prospect, Ky./North Oldham HS) and senior Paul Huber (Edgewood, Ky.,/Covington Catholic HS) are tied for 30th place at 1-over par 73 after first-round action Sunday at the Intercollegiate at the Grove in College Grove, Tenn.

The duo led the Bearcats to a 10th place result in the 13-team field at 7-over 295 on day one at the Grove Club (par 72, 7,368 yards).

Lenhart was steady on the front nine with eight par scores and a birdie on the fourth hole. He managed to rebound from four bogies on his first seven holes on the back nine by finishing with birdies on the 17th and 18th holes.

Huber made the turn at 1-over but played even par on the back nine where he registered two of his three birdies on the day.

UC senior Austin Squires (Union, Ky./Ryle HS) finished the round one stroke behind Lenhart and Huber at 2-over 74, tying for 40th place. Sophomore Nicolas Osterburg (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian HS) and freshman Sam Jean (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove) are tied for 47th place at 3-over 75. // QUOTING HEAD COACH DOUG MARTIN
On the team's play Sunday:
"We got off to a poor start by not taking advantage of the early holes. It's key to get your rounds started on the right foot in the first five holes and we didn't do that today. The golf course was there for the taking and we didn't execute well enough to take advantage of this opportunity. Individually, again we didn't have anyone playing poorly, but at the same time we didn't have anyone playing great. We must do a better job out of the gate tomorrow. There's still a lot of golf to be played over the next two days."
