AKRON, Ohio – University of Cincinnati completed competition at the Akron Zips Classic on Saturday with the men's team finishing in second place with 762.5 points and the women finishing third with 465.5 points.

// MORNING SESSION: TOP TEN FINISHES
• Saturday morning started with the quartet of Olivia Schmelzer, Claire Farrell, Abby Johnston and Maddie Exton taking fourth in the 200 free relay
• The men followed by finishing third in the same event with efforts from Alex Fortman, Alberto Garcia, Kevin McCaffrey and Hans Kabelka
Camryn Streid placed eighth in the women's 400 IM with teammate Katie Qualls coming in tenth
Blake Hanna was fifth to the wall while Dalton Lillibridge was ninth in the men's 400 IM
• Next was the 100 butterfly where Parker Saladin swam to a sixth place finish for the men
• In the 200 free, Sydney St. Rose-Finear placed seventh with Maddie Exton coming in ninth
• On the men's side, Francisco Arevalo Rubio won the 200 free. Din Selmanovic was close behind in third place. Hans Kabelka and Justin Crew also finished in the top ten with sixth and seventh place finishes, respectively
Dee Sopapong broke into the top ten in the women's 100 breast
Dalton Lillibridge finished fourth in the men's 100 breast with Zach Baecker coming in ninth
• The final event of the morning was the 100 back. Joey Puglessi represented UC's men with a fourth place finish, Blake Hanna was fifth and Remington Oland was tenth
 
// EVENING SESSION: TOP TEN FINISHES
• Action picked up in the evening, beginning with the 200 medley relay. The Bearcats' women's team's top finish was sixth while the men's best finish was third
Rocky Laabs swam well in the 1650 free, coming to the wall in third place
Toby Van Dyke also posted a third place finish in the 1650 free for UC. Tyler Jones came in fifth
Natalie Obando finished eighth in the women's 200 back
Blake Hanna came in fourth in the men's 200 back with Joey Puglessi coming in seventh and Remington Oland in ninth
• Three Bearcats finished one right after another in the women's 100 free as Olivia Schmelzer, Abby Johnston and Maddie Exton took the seventh through ninth places
Francisco Arevalo Rubio was third to the wall in the men's 100 free while Alex Fortman was eighth
Dee Sopapong was seventh in the 200 breast
• On the men's side, Dalton Lillibridge was fourth in the 200 breast and Zach Baecker took eighth
Katie Qualls made the top ten in the women's 200 butterfly with a ninth place finish
Parker Saladin was fourth in the men's 200 butterfly
• The final event was the 400 free relay. UC's women took fourth while the men's top finish was third place

• UC will travel to IUPUI on Friday, October 19 for a dual meet
• The Bearcats return home on Saturday, November 10 to host Miami (Ohio) at the Keating Aquatic Center
