University of Cincinnati baseball's Mitch Holding will be competing at the U-23 Baseball World Cup as a member of No. 8 team Australia this month.
Holding, a UC newcomer transferring in from Odessa Community College, is one of 24 members of Australia's U23 team and one of three catchers on the roster. Australia begins play on Friday, October 19 in Barranquilla and Monteria, Colombia. As part of Group B, the team will compete against No. 11 Venezuela, No. 18 Czech Republic, No. 12 Dominican Republic, No. 3 Korea and No. 10 Puerto Rico. The top three teams from the group will transfer to the Super Round. From there, the final teams will try to earn a spot at Premier12 2019, which is the first chance to earn a spot in the 2020 Olympic Games.
