UC (3-10-1, 1-3-0 AAC) dropped a 1-0 decision to Purdue Fort Wayne on Tuesday night at Hefner Soccer Complex. In its final road nonconference game of the season, the Bearcats were dealt the deciding blow in the 24th minute with a goal by PFW. Despite outshooting the Mastodons 11-5 on the night, including 4-2 on goal, the Bearcats came up short. Eight different UC players recorded a shot during the match, led by two each from Rex Epps (Irmo, S.C./Dutch Fork/Army West Point), Mohamed Elmardi (Khartoum, Sudan/Lakota East), and Marcello Jones (Cornwall, England/Truro College). The Red & Black attempted two corner kicks on the night, compared to eight for PFW. Goalkeeper Noah Lawrence (Mitchellville, Md./Sacred Heart) saved one shot in the match.  
 
// SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS
SMU (6-4-2, 2-1-1 AAC) is unbeaten in its last three matches including, most recently, a 3-0 shutout of Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee on Oct. 12. Emil Cuello scored two goals in the match, while Akea Shackleford added one. Goalkeeper Grant Makela recorded four saves. On the season, Cuello leads the Mustangs offensive attack with five goals and six assists. Shackleford and Garrett McLaughlin each have chipped in three goals. Makela has 36 saves on the year with five shutouts. In the preseason, SMU was picked to finish second in The American with McLaughlin tabbed Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and Cuello named to the All-Conference Team.

The Bearcats trail the Mustangs in the all-time series, 2-8-0. UC fell to SMU, 2-0, last season in Cincinnati. The Red & Black have yet to pick up a win at SMU and are 0-3 all-time. In the last visit to Dallas in 2016, the Bearcats were edged, 1-0.
