CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team will conclude its fall season with the UC Tennis Pam Whitehead Invitational on October 26 and 27 at Western Tennis and Fitness Club.
// THE COMPETITION
The event will be played as a hidden dual competition which includes opponents from Chattanooga, Illinois-Chicago and Xavier. Play will begin at 12:30 pm on Friday, October 26, concluding around roughly 7:00 pm and resuming at 9:30 am on Saturday, October 27.
// CHANGE OF VENUE
Due to weather, the event will be moved indoors to the Western Tennis and Fitness Club. The facility features 9 air-conditioned courts with state-of-the-art lighting.
The address for the Western Tennis and Fitness Club is 5490 Muddy Creek Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45238.
// HONORING THE PAST
Announced earlier this week, the Bearcats fall invitational will now bear the name of former UC tennis standout Pam Whitehead.
Confidence-Attitude-Tenacity-Sports. Pam Whitehead was a true Bearcat both on the tennis court and in the business world. After a successful career on the court at UC, Pam took the same confidence, attitude and tenacity out in the business world. She found several successful businesses, including within the sports-related orthopedic business world. From sales to marketing to identifying new products to keep people active, Pam transferred her on-court competitiveness into success in what had traditionally been a more male-dominated industry. She worked with athletes at all levels from professional to college to the weekend warrior trying to keep sports/athletics part of their everyday life. Pam also spent time mentoring and encouraging young women on how to compete and succeed in business and life. Indeed, she even helped found "The Forum"- a group composed primarily of orthopedic surgeons throughout the United States focusing on breaking down barriers for all. Pam made a mark on this world that will be lasting.
