After shooting a 300 on Friday during the tournament's opening round, the Bearcats stayed consistent on Saturday with another 300. With senior Anika Hitt (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) and junior Daniela Murcia (Bogotá, Colombia) both carding rounds of 73 yesterday, Shahzan took over today with a score of 73. Following shooting a 77 in the first round, the sophomore bounced back with a three-over-par round featuring two birdies and 10 pars to move up from a tie for 52nd to a tie for 43rd.

Sophomore Angela Lopez (Bogotá, Colombia), too, improved on Saturday after shooting a 78 on Friday with a 75 today including a birdie on hole No. 2 and par saved on 11 holes. Murcia held relatively consistent in the second round with a 74 consisting of a pair of birdies and 10 pars. As such, she still leads the way for UC in a tie for 29th place after tying for 26th a day ago.

// COACH CARL ON THE BEARCATS
"We had opportunities and fought hard, but the last hole simply killed our chances today," said head coach Janet Carl. "We didn't execute for all 18 holes. The team still has a chance to come out and climb the leaderboard tomorrow, but it will require playing with confidence. It's another opportunity for the team to learn that they belong here."
