STORRS, Conn. – University of Cincinnati men's soccer's three-match unbeaten streak was snapped Saturday night in a 3-0 loss at No. 24 UConn.

STORRS, Conn. – University of Cincinnati men's soccer's three-match unbeaten streak was snapped Saturday night in a 3-0 loss at No. 24 UConn.
 
With the setback, the Bearcats dropped to 3-8-1 on the season and 1-2-0 in American Athletic Conference play. Meanwhile, the nationally-ranked Huskies improved to 6-3-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the league.
 
UC hung tough for the opening 45 minutes with sophomore goalkeeper Noah Lawrence (Mitchellville, Md./Sacred Heart) saving three shots. The Red & Black was also able to get some offensive progression going late in the first period with three shots. The two teams went into halftime knotted at zero.
 
The Bearcats fell behind early in the second half when the Huskies struck first with a goal during the 56th minute. With the visitors searching for the equalizer, UConn added an insurance goal in the 79th minute to go up 2-0. UC was able to get a shot on target in the 82nd minute on a try by junior transfer forward Rex Epps (Irmo, S.C./Dutch Fork/Army West Point) that was saved. The home team responded with a score during the 89th minute to put the match away.
 
Four Bearcats registered a shot on the night with Epps' being the lone on goal. UC also attempted a pair of corner kicks. Lawrence recorded a season-high tying four saves in the match.

The Bearcats will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 13, when they welcome Tulsa to Gettler Stadium for a 7 p.m. kickoff. Admission to the match will be free of charge as part of the season-long Experience UC initiative.
