ORLANDO, Fla. – University of Cincinnati men's soccer will wrap the 2018 fall season Friday when it visits the ninth-ranked UCF Knights for a 7 p.m. ET first touch at UCF Soccer Complex.

Senior Ryan Melink (Loveland, Ohio/Loveland) scored two goals in his final game as a Bearcat at Gettler Stadium as UC (3-13-1, 1-5-0 AAC) dropped a 6-2 decision to visiting USF on Senior Night. The Bearcats fell behind 2-0 in the first half and suffered another blow in the 55th minute. UC's hole dug even deeper over the next 25 minutes with the Bulls scoring three more goals to go up 6-0. The Bearcats refused to go down without a fight, however, as Melink scored back-to-back goals in 84th and 85th minutes as the Red & Black fell by a final of 6-2. Melink led the UC offense on the night with seven total shots, including four on goal. Marcello Jones (Cornwall, England/Truro College) was also active on the offensive end with five shots, including three on target. Goalkeeper Noah Lawrence (Mitchellville, Md./Sacred Heart) had another solid match between the pipes with four saves.

UCF (11-2-2, 4-1-1 AAC) is on a three-match win streak and is unbeaten in its last seven. The No. 9 Knights most recently topped the Memphis Tigers, 2-1, on the road on Oct. 27. Chris Mikus scored the game winner in the 66th minute. Goalkeeper Yannik Oettl saved a season-high eight shots in the victory. On the season, Cal Jennings boasts an AAC-best 19 goals to go along with four assists. Walker Dawkins has pitched in four goals and three assists. Oettl has 51 saves and three shutouts. In the preseason, UCF was picked to finish first in The American with four first-place votes. Jennings, Yoni Sorokin, and Andreas Steineger were each named to the Preseason All-AAC Team.

The Bearcats trail the Knights in the all-time series, 6-0. UC fell to UCF, 2-1, in overtime last season in Cincinnati. Austin Smythe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day/Radford) scored the equalizer in the 12th minute. In the last meeting between the two sides in Orlando in 2016, the Red & Black was edged, 1-0.
