CINCINNATI –
University of Cincinnati women's basketball picked up where it left off on Tuesday with a 77-64 victory on Friday against the ETSU Buccaneers at Fifth Third Arena.

With their second win this week to start the season, the Bearcats improved to 2-0. Meanwhile, playing in their first game of 2018-19, the Bucs fell to 0-1.

For the second-straight game, the UC offense was paced by three or more double-figure scorers with senior guard Nikira Goings (Marietta, Ga./Osborne) leading the way with a game and season-best 24 points, including five made 3-pointers. Continuing her strong play, newcomer Florence Sifa (Bujumbura, Burundi/Jacksonville College) netted 15 points to go along with six rebounds, while junior guard Antoinette Miller (Detroit, Mich./Southfield-Lathrup) once again stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, four rebounds, four assists, and four steals.

Following a quick turnaround after Tuesday's season-opening win over Austin Peay, the Red & Black fell in an early 14-5 hole and trailed 22-16 at the end of one quarter. UC fought back in the second period with a 7-2 run to trail by just one, 24-23, with 6:36 to go before halftime. The two teams competed tightly over the duration of the second quarter with junior guard Genesis Parker (Bristow, Va./Stonewall Jackson/Virginia Tech) nailing a 3-pointer at the buzzer to bring the score to 34-all at the break.

Trading baskets with ETSU much of the third quarter, the Bearcats ended the period with a 5-0 run to take a 59-53 surplus into the final stanza. After going up by eight, UC saw the Bucs burst ahead to trail by just one with 6:57 left. Powered by Goings, the Red & Black ended the game on a 16-4 surge to notch its second-consecutive victory to begin 2018-19.

The Bearcats' pressure caused the visitors from Johnson City, Tennessee problems all night, forcing 24 turnovers and scoring 25 points off of these miscues. UC also held an edge on the boards with a 39-31 advantage, including 17 offensive rebounds which were converted into 20 points. The Red & Black bench was also a huge spark with 31 points on the night.
