The University of Cincinnati volleyball team earned an at-large bid to the 2018 NCAA Volleyball Championship tournament and will face Illinois State on Friday, November 30 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin at 5:30 p.m. ET.
UC earns the second at-large bid in American Athletic Conference history as they also did so in 2016. The tournament field was released live on ESPNU Sunday evening. No. 14 Marquette will be the host of the four-team field in Milwaukee that will also include High Point. The winning team to come out of Milwaukee will advance to Regionals set for December 7-8.
Prior to 2016, the last time the Bearcats appeared in the NCAA postseason was 2011, and the previous at-large selection came during the 2010 season. UC ended the regular season 25-7 and 15-3 in the AAC for a second-place finish. This marks the 11th NCAA tournament appearance for the program. UC has won four matches in tournament play.

The Bearcats are 3-12-1 all-time against the Redbirds. The two teams met in 2017 at the Redbird Classic with host Illinois State coming out with the 3-2 victory. Prior to last season, UC beat Illinois State in straight sets during the 2009 season. Illinois State is 25-7 in 2018 and won the Missouri Valley Conference regular season title by going 16-2.
No. 14 Marquette finished the regular season 26-6. The Bearcats are 29-8 all-time against the Golden Eagles. The last meeting between the two teams was in 2016 when Marquette, who was receiving votes in the national polls, won 3-1 at a neutral site.
High Point sits at 21-9 this season and received an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament after winning the Big South Championship. UC and High Point have never met on the volleyball court.
