MACON, Ga. – Senior Anika Hitt (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) finished the fall season strong with a final-round score of 75 to finish in a tie for 10th Tuesday at the Mercer Idle Hour Collegiate Championship at Idle Hour Golf & Country Club.

Hitt's finish marks the third time this fall season she has placed among the top 10 (NKU Fall Classic – T2nd, MSU Greenbrier Invitational – T5th).

As a team, the Bearcats turned in their best round of the tournament with a third-round 302 to place ninth.

Hitt started strong on the front-nine holes at 1-under-par through the first five, but was challenged later on the front with four bogeys. The senior bounced back with two birdies and three pars on holes 10-14, but went 2-over-par on the final holes of the back nine to shoot a 75.

Sophomore Vanessa Manrique (Bogotá, Colombia) and junior Alyssa Burritt (Bellbrook, Ohio/Bellbrook) both joined Hitt with the Bearcats' best scores of the day with 75's as well. Manrique holed three birdies during the round, while Burritt sunk one birdie to go along with saving par on 14 holes.

Sophomores Angela Lopez (Bogotá, Colombia) and Amalia Shahzan (Kedah, Malaysia), too, fought to the finish with final-round scores of 77 and 78, respectively. The pair combined to mark four birdies, with Shahzan recording three.

Competing individually, junior Daniela Murcia (Bogotá, Colombia) matched her second-round score with a final-round 76 to finish in a tie for 40th. The junior tallied one birdie and 13 par scores.

The Bearcats will be back in action Feb. 18-19 at the Jacksonville Amelia Island Collegiate in Fernandina Beach, Florida.

// HEAD COACH JANET CARL ON THE BEARCATS
"We saw some good things starting to happen with the team late in the round. Unfortunately, we didn't execute short-game shots early in the round. We have a lot of work to do with wedges and putting this winter. If we can get better in the next few months, during our off season, we can start off great in the spring."
