University of Cincinnati swimming and diving wrapped up competition for the fall semester on Saturday at US Winter Nationals and the Miami Invitational.
In all at the Miami Invitational, the Bearcats had 35 personal best times, ten top-ten UC performances and one school record. UC's women placed second with 1000.5 points behind Miami's 1249.5 points. The men also trailed Miami for a second-place finish (1271-992).
// US WINTER NATIONALS
• Rocky Laabs started the day by reaching the finals in the 1500 free
• Tyler Jones and Din Selmanovic also swam in the 1500 free finals, placing tenth and 11th, respectively
• Joey Puglessi was seventh in the B final of the 200 back
// MIAMI INVITATIONAL
• Saturday finals began with the 1650 free. Katie Qualls finished third and Jordyn Ryan fourth for UC's women while George Epsly was third for the men
• In the 200 back, Natalie Obando finished second
• Connor Blatt posted a Bearcats record with a 1:46.21 first place swim in the 200 back. Blake Hanna was close behind in second place
• Maddie Exton was third in the 100 free with Abby Johnston taking fourth
• Alex Fortman won the 100 free with the men. Remington Oland was third and Justin Crew was fourth
• Dee Sopapong was second to the wall in the 200 breast with Camryn Streid coming in fourth
• Zach Baecker also took second in the 200 breast for UC
• Ryan put forth another top-five finish by placing third in the 200 fly
• Francisco Arevalo Rubio was fourth in the 200 fly followed by Toby Van Dyke
• To finish off the event, the Bearcats women were second in the 400 free, swam by Caroline Sheehan, Exton, Johnston and Claire Farrell
• UC's men ended the day with a win in the 400 free, thanks to Alberto Garcia, Crew, Oland and Fortman
• In diving, Tricia Roscoe competed in 1-meter and Gus Staubitz in 3-meter for the men on Saturday

• UC hosts Xavier on Saturday, January 12. Diving is scheduled for 11 a.m. with swimming starting after at 1 p.m. at the Keating Aquatic Center
