OXFORD, Ohio – University of Cincinnati women's basketball featured four double-figure scorers on Wednesday night, led by 13 points from junior forward Angel Rizor, in a 78-65 loss to the Miami Redhawks at Millett Hall.

With defeat, the Bearcats even up at 5-5 on the season, while the Redhawks improve to 6-1 in 2018.

Joining Rizor with double-figure scoring was sophomore forward IImar'I Thomas (Oakland, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep) with 12 points – all in the second half, junior guard Sam Rodgers (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East) with 11, and junior guard Antoinette Miller (Detroit, Mich./Southfield-Lathrup) with 10. Rizor also had a team-best six rebounds, while Miller led the Red & Black with three assists.

Capping a three-game road swing, the Bearcats got behind early and couldn't quite catch up. Facing a 23-17 deficit at the end of one quarter, UC pulled within three, 23-20, on a junior guard Nikira Goings (Marietta, Ga./Osborne) triple early in the second period. The visitors then saw MU go on a 10-2 run thereafter to go up by a then-game-high 11 points. The Redhawks surge continued over the duration of the half as the Red & Black faced a 43-28 shortfall going into halftime.

UC came out of the locker room energized and cut the Miami lead to 11, 51-40, with 4:45 to play in the third quarter. Staying steady over the course of the third, the Bearcats trailed just 58-47 going into the final period. A Rizor bucket seconds into the fourth brought the Red & Black within nine, 58-49, with the momentum on its side. The Redhawks then responded with an 8-2 run over the next three minutes to get back into the driver's seat. Down the stretch, UC was unable to get closer than 13 as MU continued on to victory.

The Bearcats found solid production in the paint with 38 points and shot the ball decently from the field at 47 percent. UC also held a 29-23 advantage on the glass, including 12 points off of eight offensive rebounds. In addition, the Red & Black reserves scored 22 points. The team was also efficient from the free-throw line with 14-of-17 makes.
