TicketsPROVIDENCE, R.I. – University of Cincinnati women's basketball sophomore forward IImar'I Thomas (Oakland, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep) has been selected as the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Thomas was tabbed for the honor after averaging 20.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, 2.0 assists, and 1.5 steals as the Bearcats picked up a pair of wins last week.
With two double-doubles on the week, the sophomore led the way for UC on Saturday with 18 points and 10 rebounds in a 70-50 road win at Tulsa. Previously, she posted game highs of 22 points and 10 rebounds in a 72-52 win over Temple on Wednesday.
On the season, Thomas is averaging team highs of 13.1 points and 7.4 rebounds in 26 minutes each game. In conference play, the forward is posting 15.8 points and 7.4 rebounds each outing.
Entering Monday, she is tops in the league – and seventh nationally -- in field-goal percentage at 65.4 percent on the year. In addition, the forward is eighth in the AAC in rebounding and 12th in scoring.
Thomas has received weekly recognition by the league four times this season, including Player of the Week on Dec. 17, 2018. In total, the sophomore has garnered weekly AAC accolades nine times in her young career.
