COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS - The University of Cincinnati track and field team returns to action this weekend at the Charlie Thomas Invitational in the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium on the campus of Texas A&M University.
Some of the top teams in the nation will be competing along with the Bearcats as No. 1 Arkansas, No. 3 Texas A&M and No. 5 Texas headline the women's field while the men's field includes No. 5 Houston, No. 7 Texas A&M and No. 8 Texas. Other schools in the team scored meet include Rice, South Plains Junior College, Stephen F. Austin, Texas Arlington, TCU and UTSA.
Multi-events, a pentathlon and heptathlon, start things off at 3:30 p.m. ET on Friday. Angelica Lightfoot and Naomi Urbano will compete for UC in the pentathlon and Damien Berthenet will make his UC heptathlon debut.
On Saturday the heptathlon continues at 11:30 a.m., field events begin at 1:30 p.m. and running finals start at 3 p.m.
The women's high jump will feature a rematch between the Bearcats Loretta Blaut and Alexus Henry of UT Arlington. Henry won a rain-soaked high jump at the 2018 NCAA Championship in Eugene, Oregon over Blaut and Erinn Beattie from UC Davis UC Davis. Henry cleared 1.82m on her second attempt while Blaut and Erinn Beattie of UC Davis both cleared on their third attempts, placing them in a tie for second place. Blaut tops the meet performance list for this weekend and also set the Charlie Thomas Invitational meet record of 1.84m last year.
Aaron Bienenfeld holds the No. 2 seed time in the mile run, a 4:07.32 clocking, behind UTSA's Montgomery Bertschy.
