CINCINNATI - Three players tallied at least four goals, including Monica Borzillo's seven, as the University of Cincinnati lacrosse team rebounded from its season-opening loss to hand Kent State a 19-8 decision on a snowy Sunday at Gettler Stadium. // HOW IT HAPPENED
With the snow falling, the Bearcats took an early 1-0 lead as Mlkvy scored her first before the Golden Flashes answered right back just over one minute later to knot the score at 1-1. Form there, UC tallied the next three goals with Sains (1) and Borzillo (2) each scoring goals to push the Bearcats ahead, 4-1. After a KSU man-up goal made it 4-2, the Bearcats added two more as Mlkvy and Borzillo scored once again. A pair of KSU goals pulled the guests to within two (6-4) before each team traded a pair of goals to see the game sit 8-6 in favor of the hosts at halftime.

In the second half, the Bearcats began to pull away as they scored the opening three goals to build an 11-6 lead. In that run, Adams, Borzillo and Napoletano each found the back of the cage before a Golden Flash goal halted the run with a goal that made it 11-7. But, from there, UC would score five in a row and eight of the final nine goals in the contest to take the game, 19-8.

// BORZILLO BOOMING
Friday, Borzillo netted two goals and dished out one assist for three points in the first game of the year. Move ahead to Sunday and Borzillo lit it up as she tallied seven goals and four assists for 11 points to lead the way for UC. Her 11 points rank as the most in a single game in program history, bettering the two games in which she tallied 10 (3/2/18 vs. Central Michigan & 4/1/17 at Butler) while her seven goals rank as the second-most in a contest, tying her with Mlkvy (4/21/18 vs. Butler) and Kylie Ramsland (4/30/10 at Villanova). Additionally, her four helpers rank her tied for eighth with five others and brings her career total to 66, moving her into the top position in program history for career assists as she surpassed Katie Kiriazoglou, who recorded 64 (2010-13).

// MIGHTY MLKVY
For the second game in a row, Mlkvy was a main player all over the field as she scored four goals and added one assist for five points while adding six draw controls and five ground balls while causing three turnovers. Mlkvy has opened the season with back-to-back hat tricks (three vs. Ohio State) and continued to show her hot hand as she has now scored two or more in five-straight dating back to last year. With a trio against Villanova in the 2018 finale, Mlkvy has recorded three hat tricks in a row for the second time in her career.

// NO NAPPING ON NAPOLETANO
Heading into the game, Napoletano had not recorded a point this season, had only three multiple-goal games to her credit and only two hat tricks in her previous two seasons. Today, she added to those as she recorded a career-high four goals, bettering the pair of hat tricks she recorded over the past two seasons, most recently a three-goal effort against Campbell (3/8/18). Like Mlkvy, she finished with five points as she added an assist, just her third helper at UC, while also adding one ground ball secured.

// MILESTONE GOAL
Not only did Napoletano have a career day in scoring, she also will part of team history as her third goal of the day now stands as the 300th scored by the Bearcats in games played at Gettler Stadium.

// SAINS FINDS THE CAGE
The two goals scored by Sains were not only her first of the year, they were the first for her since the 2017 season when she scored six total. In fact, today's performance marked her first multiple-goal game in Bearcats jersey and her first since she scored two for LIU Brooklyn her freshman year against Wagner (4/17/16).
