CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics and the UC Sport Administration program will host its fifth annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) Celebration on Saturday, March 2.
NGWSD is celebrated annually around the country to commemorate the achievements of girls and women in athletics. The initiative also aims to promote the continued expansion of opportunities for girls and women to play sports and live physically active lives. For more information on NGWSD, click here.
To begin the day, area youth will hear from women working in sport from the Cincinnati Bengals, UC Athletics, FC Cincinnati, and Girls on the Run. UC female athletes will hear from renowned businesswoman Mayree Clark as she launches the Women's Excellence Fund Leadership Lecture Series.
Following the opening session, the two groups will merge and transition to the practice gym and weight room where they will engage in a sport and wellness clinic.
To conclude the day, attendees will cheer on the Bearcats women's basketball team at noon as they face USF on Senior Day. UC alum Cindy Coggins will be recognized in-game for her contributions towards and support of women's athletics at the University of Cincinnati and the Women's Excellence Fund.
