TicketsCINCINNATI – For the sixth consecutive week, University of Cincinnati's Jarron Cumberland (Wilmington, Ohio/Wilmington High School) has been recognized by the American Athletic Conference. This week he was tabbed to the league's weekly honor roll.
In all, Cumberland has been honored by the AAC in eight of 14 weeks, a league high. He has received a conference-best four player of the week awards along with four honor roll selections.
The junior forward earned his way onto the list this past week after scoring a game-high 27 points in Sunday's 72-62 home win over Wichita State. Cumberland tied a career-high with six three-pointers against the Shockers to go with a game-high five assists and six rebounds.
The effort was Cumberland's sixth game with 25 or more points this season, including his second consecutive 27-point showing. He owns a league-best 13 20-point game in 2018-19 and has led the Bearcats in scoring in 11 of 12 conference contests. He has scored 20 or more points in all six conference games at Fifth Third Arena this season.
A preseason first-team all-conference pick by the league coaches, Cumberland was named to the Citizen Naismith Trophy Midseason Watch List last week and selected as one of 10 to be considered for the Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Watch List two weeks ago.
Cumberland is averaging a league-high 19.3 points this season to go with 4.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.3 steals. He is shooting 43.5 percent (67 of 154) from three-point range and 77.4 percent (113 of 146) from the free throw line.
Cumberland enters the week ranked among the AAC's best in scoring (first at 19.3), three-point field goal percentage (second at .435), three-pointers made (fifth at 2.7), free throw percentage (eighth at .774), assists (10th at 3.5), assist-to-turnover ratio (11th at 1.3), steals (15th at 1.3) and minutes played (16th at 31.5).
Cumberland has earned recognition from the league each of the previous five weeks. He was named to the AAC's Weekly Honor Roll on Jan. 14, Feb. 4 and Feb. 11 while being chosen as The American's Player of the Week on Jan. 21 and Jan. 28.
