CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team returns to the courts for a pair of matches this weekend. The Bearcats will open the weekend in Manhattan, Kansas against the Kansas State Wildcats. The match is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. ET (12:00 p.m. CT) start and will be held at the Body First Tennis Center. Following the match against Kansas State, the Bearcats will travel to Wichita, Kansas in an American Athletic Conference match against Wichita State. The match against the Shockers will begin at 10:00 a.m. ET (9:00 a.m. CT) and will be held at the Wichita Country Club.

// LOOKING BACK
The Bearcats moved to 5-2 on the season with a 5-2 victory over Miami (OH) on Saturday, February 16. The team bounced back and once again claimed the doubles point for the sixth time in seven matches this season. Ioana Guna and Anna Philp got things going with a 6-3 victory on the #2 court. Antonella Bramato and Alexia Coutino clinched the point with a 6-4 victory on the #1 court.
 
Bramato/Coutino remain unbeaten with a 7-0 record in doubles.
 
The Bearcats move to a 16-4 record in doubles play this season.
 
Miami (OH) bounced back and tied the match with a victory on the #1 court in singles, but Caroline Morton and Maria Santilli quickly grabbed the lead back for the Bearcats. Morton registered a 6-4, 6-3 victory on the #3 court and Santilli powered her way to a 6-1, 6-2 victory on the #5 court. Once again Antonella Bramato clinched the match for the Bearcats, registering a 6-3, 6-4 victory on the #2 court. Rounding out the night was a 5-7, 6-1, 1-0 (5) victory for Emma Miceli on the #6 court.
 
Santilli remains unbeaten with a 7-0 record in singles.
 
Miceli moves to 6-1 in singles.
 
Bramato and Morton both hold 5-2 records in singles.
 
The team moves to 29-13 in singles for the season.

// SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
The Wildcats have clawed their way to a 5-2 start for the season. Opening the season with victories over South Dakota (7-0) and William & Mary (4-1) before being declawed by the Georgia Bulldogs (0-7) in the ITA Kickoff Weekend. Since then, they have pounced on Nebraska (4-1), North Texas (4-3) and Arizona (4-0), but were tripped up by Rice (1-6).
 
The team is currently ranked #50 in the ITA Division I Women's Rankings.
 
In doubles, the Wildcats are led by the duo of Margot Decker and Anna Turco with a 4-3 record at the #1 court. Maria Linares and Ines Mesquita, as well as Karine-Marion Job and Ines Mesquita, have amassed 2-1 records at the #2 court.
 
In singles, the team is led by freshman Karine-Marion Job who has posted a 5-1 record with a 3-1 showing on the #5 court. Sophomore Anna Turco has a 4-2 record, including a 3-2 showing on the #3 court, and comes in to the match with a two-match win streak. Sophmore Margot Decker boasts a 4-3 record, including a 3-0 showing at the #2 court.
 
Job is currently on a four-match win streak in singles.
 
// SCOUTING THE SHOCKERS
Wichita State opened the season at the ITA Kickoff Weekend with a pair of matches against Baylor and Middle Tennessee. After a frosty start against Baylor, the Shockers warmed up to take down Middle Tennessee. Following the first weekend of play, the Shockers faced a bit of a dry season as they fell to #11 Kansas, Missouri and Houston. However, their luck turned around and has since rained down wins with a four-match streak including victories over UT Arlington, Louisville, Nebraska and Creighton.
 
The Shockers will face SMU on Friday, February 22 before turning their attention to the Bearcats.
 
In doubles, the Shockers are led by the duo of Marta Bellucco and Sandra Honigova. Bellucco/Honigova currently hold a 4-1 record with all matches played on the #2 court. Esther Thebault and Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva boast a 4-3 record at the #1 court. Rounding out the top performance in doubles for the Shockers is the duo of LingWei Kong and Ting-Ya Hsu with an overall record of 4-1, including a 3-1 showing at the #3 court.
 
Kong/Hsu are currently on a four-match win streak in doubles.
 
Thebault/Saidhujaeva are on a three-match win streak in doubles.
 
In singles, the Shockers are led by Sandra Honigova who holds a 5-3 record at the #1 court. Honigova is currently ranked #118 for singles in the ITA Division I Women's Rankings. Other top performers for the Shockers in singles include Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva, who holds a 3-2 record with a 2-1 record at the #5 court, and Ting-Ya Hsu, who holds a 2-1 record.
 
Honigova is on a five-match win streak in singles.
 
Saidhujaeva is on a three-match win streak in singles.
