// ABOUT THE BEARCATS
Cincinnati owns its highest national ranking in program history to start a spring season ranked No. 67 in the Feb. 19 GolfStats rankings. Led by 2017 American Athletic Conference Player of the Year and 2018 U.S. Amateur quarterfinalist Austin Squires (Union, Ky./Ryle High School), the Bearcats look to shake off the rust since ending the fall season with a third-place finish at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate on Oct. 16.

Squires leads the Bearcats with a school-record low 70.81 stroke average. He carded Top 20 finishes in all four 2018 fall tournaments, including a tie for third at the Rod Meyers Invitational to start the season.

Fellow senior Paul Huber (Edgewood, Ky.,/Covington Catholic High School) along with sophomore Nicolas Osterburg (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian High School), redshirt freshman Mason Lenhart (Prospect, Ky./North Oldham High School), and freshman Sam Jean (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove High School) each competed in all four tournaments in the fall.

The Bearcats' top finishes of the fall campaign came at Duke's Rod Myers Invitational (fifth place) and Louisiana Tech's Jim Rivers Intercollegiate (third place).

// QUOTING HEAD COACH DOUG MARTIN
On entering the spring season ranked in the Top 70:
"It's the highest we've ever been ranked heading into the spring season. A lot of it has to do with the strength of our fall schedule and our ability to play solid golf against some challenging tournament fields. We're not going to spend time talking about our ranking though. We're focused on what we need to do to get better."

On the start of the spring season:
"You always worry as a coach if your team will be ready. Our guys put in the time in the weight room and took advantage of a couple of trips south for practice purposes to get ready for the spring. One through 10, everyone on the roster did some great things in the offseason to improve and come together as a team. We have to go out, execute and play well."
