University of Cincinnati baseball takes on No. 18 Auburn this weekend in a three-game series in Alabama. SCHEDULE UPDATE: The first game of the series will remain Friday at 7 p.m. ET. Due to inclement weather on Sunday, the teams will play a double header on Saturday beginning at 2 p.m. ET. The second game of the day will begin 45 minutes following the completion of the first.

// SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Auburn enters the weekend ranked as high as No. 18 in the national polls by Baseball America
• The Tigers sit at 6-2 on the season and are coming off a series victory over AAC foe UCF
• In last weekend's series, Auburn took the opening game 4-1, lost the next 6-1 then won the series with a 13-9 victory
• Last season the Tigers finished 43-23 overall and 15-15 in conference action
• Auburn made a deep run in the 2018 NCAA Tournament, winning the Raleigh Regional with three-straight wins against opponents Northeastern, Army and NC State
• The Tigers then took Florida to three games in Super Regionals in Gainesville, losing 8-2, winning 3-2 then ending the season in a 3-2 contest
• UC and Auburn have faced each other just once, a 17-4 Tigers neutral site victory on March 21, 1971

// NO STRANGER TO THE SEC
• The Bearcats have played many games against SEC opponents, including 27 games in the past ten years
• Most recently, UC hosted Tennessee in a three-game series at Marge Schott Stadium last season
• The Bearcats beat two SEC teams in back-to-back games in 2017
• That team took down Kentucky 2-1 in ten innings then traveled to Knoxville to take the first game of the series against the Vols 2-1
• UC starting center fielder Jeremy Johnson is a transfer from Auburn, as he made the move to Cincinnati after graduating from Auburn this past fall
• DH Wyatt Stapp played his first season of collegiate baseball last year at Tennessee before transferring to UC

// DIG THE DEFENSE
• The Bearcats once again have shown to be strong defensively this season despite having new faces on the infield
• UC enters the weekend ranked third in double plays, eighth in double plays per game and is 23rd in the nation in fielding percentage
• The Bearcats led the nation last season in double plays and lost their starting third baseman, shortstop and second baseman from a year ago. All three are currently in professional baseball

// CLOSE CALLS
UC has been in close contention despite a losing record to start the 2019 season
• UC was one out away every time FAU scored during the opening series of play, as the Owls plated every run of the weekend on two outs
• The second game of the FAU series was decided by one run in the eleventh inning
• Last weekend at HBU, the Bearcats dropped two one-run games to start the weekend, including a Huskies' walkoff on Saturday in the bottom of the ninth
• UC's victory came in the final game in twelve innings when it hung on for a 5-4 win
