CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), along with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MAAD), welcomed over 75 teams inside the Bubble at the Sheakley Athletics Center on February 18 as UC students not only competed in the 10th Annual Gatorade Pong tournament, but also raised money to end drunk driving. Along with the tournament, Brian and Nancy Cooper and Laura Cruea, attending on behalf of MAAD, shared their personal stories with the participants, as well as the role they play within the organization.
All told, SAAC was able to raise $1,500 to support MAAD and its efforts to end drunk driving, help fight drugged /impaired driving, support the victims of these violent crimes and prevent underage drinking.
The tournament consisted of over 75 teams with the student-athlete team of Katie Kravistky (track & field) and Katrina Patterson (cross country/track & field) winning the tournament one year after placing second. Teams in the tournament consisted of students, faculty and staff members for the UC community.
Besides the Gatorade Pong tournament, there were also raffle prizes and food. The Raffle Prizes consisted of gift cards to local restaurants and shops along with UC Under Armour gear and Cincinnati Reds tickets. Food was provided by Buffalo Wings and Rings, Raising Cane's and Dominos.
