CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati baseball completed the series sweep of Bowling Green on Monday afternoon with a 4-3 victory.
 
Garrett Schoenle started the game strong, hitting his career-high with eight strikeouts through the first three innings. After a ground ball rolled back to him for the first out of the game, the sophomore hurler struck out eight batters in a row. Schoenle's day ended after 6.0 innings with one run, three hits, two walks and nine strikeouts.
 
// NOTABLES
• Clayton Colvin followed Schoenle out of the bullpen and kept the Bearcats in front for the next 2.1 frames with no walks and two strikeouts
• Korren Thompson entered the game with one out in the ninth with runners on and earned his first save at UC after walking one and striking out two
• Joey Wiemer and Dondrae Bremner both had two hits at the plate with Bremner blasting his third triple of the year
• Wyatt Stapp also had a triple in the game, making it a total of five triples in two days for the Bearcats

Bottom of the 3rd
The Bearcats supported Schoenle with a run in the third when Bremner tripled and later scored on a ground out by Jace Mercer
Bottom of the 4th
• UC tacked a run on after Wiemer singled, stole second and came home on a base hit by Mitch Holding
Top of the 6th
• The Falcons broke through to get a run on the board with a double and base hit
Bottom of the 6th
• The Bearcats were able to answer right back with two runs in the bottom of the frame to make it a 4-1 game. Holding started it off with a walk and came home on a triple by Stapp. A sacrifice fly by Griffin Merritt scored Stapp
Top of the 8th
• Bowling Green made it a one-run contest with two late tallies. A single and double put runners on the corners with one out. After a groundout for the second out of the frame, a single to center field allowed the two runners to come home. Holding then threw out the runner at first trying to swipe a bag to end the rally and keep the Bearcats in front
 
// UP NEXT
• UC remains home all week, hosting Wright State on Tuesday and Indiana on Wednesday before a three-game series with Niagara starting on Friday
