Cincinnati senior Austin Squires (Union, Ky./Ryle High School) tied for 10th at even par 216 at the Colleton River Collegiate March 5 in Bluffton, S.C. As a team, the Bearcats posted a 7-over 295 to finish 11th at 22-over 302-289-295=886.

Squires was named to the Haskins Award Watch List on Monday for the most outstanding collegiate golfer in the United States. He is listed 61st among the nation's top golfers according to the most recent GolfStat rankings and owns a program-record low 70.88 stroke average after six tournaments in 2018-19. Squires has finished as high as a tie for third at two events this year: at the Rod Meyer Invitational (5-under par 211 on Sept. 9, 2018) and at the Seminole Intercollegiate (6-under 210 on Feb. 24, 2019).

// QUOTING HEAD COACH DOUG MARTIN
On Austin Squires being named to the Haskins Award Watch List:
"It's very special for Austin and for our program. Any time you have a player named to the watch list of your sport's top honor it's incredible for him and for our program in showing what we can do in terms of player development."

On the George Mason event:
"We had three good days of practice outside before we left and were able to get reps. It's a great opportunity to get back into a rhythm of playing competitive golf. We're looking for consistency. That's what we had in the fall and what we've been missing to this point in the spring. With spring break next week, we'll remain on the road and prepare for our next tournament. Those 10 days together on the road should help us continue to develop our consistency and set us up for a strong finish to the spring season."
