CINCINNATI – The American Athletic Conference has announced its weekly lacrosse honors with two members of the University of Cincinnati team earning recognition for their play last week, including Kylie Nause, who was named the Freshman of the Week, and Taylor Gysin, who was placed on the Honor Roll. Both Bearcats earned their second selections to those awards this season.

// COLLECTING HATS
Nause continued her hot streak of goal scoring as the rookie tallied her third hat trick in a row as she scored three goals on three shots at Louisville last week. Nause, who had just two goals to her credit before her hat trick run began, now has 12 goals on the year after scoring 10 in the last three games. She started her streak with three at Central Michigan before netting four at #20 Michigan in the next game.

// ROOKIE AWARDS
Nause's honor this week is the second of her career and the second in as many weeks UC played games (UC was off ahead of last week's awards and not eligible to nominate). The first freshman honored for the Bearcats as a member of the AAC, Nause joins Monica Borzillo as the only players in UC history to earn a weekly rookie award from a conference after Borzillo was selected as the Big East Freshman of the Week five times during the 2017 season.

// SCORING TOUCH
Gysin led the team in scoring at Louisville with five goals, the second-highest game total of her career behind the six she tallied against Marquette earlier this season. Her third hat trick of the year in eight games played, Gysin had three all last year (17 games) as a freshman and picked up her hat trick against the Cardinals to bring the team from 5-0 down to 5-4 down with Nause scoring the other goal.

// RUNNING TOTAL
With the two honors earned this week, Nause joins Borzillo (attacker of the week Feb. 12 and Feb. 26) as the only Bearcats to earn one of the four major weekly awards multiple times this year while Gysin is the third UC player to earn multiple accolades in 2019 with her second Honor Roll appearance. The trio joins Alyssa Adams (midfielder of the week Feb. 19) and Sam Mlkvy (Honor Roll Feb. 12) as the five Bearcats to have earned awards so far in the in the inaugural season of AAC lacrosse.
