AUBURN, Ala. – University of Cincinnati baseball fell 5-0 in the first game of a double header against No. 18 Auburn Saturday afternoon despite a career day from starter Nathan Kroger.
 
After giving up one run in the first inning, Kroger cruised. He reached his career-high in strikeouts when he struck out his eighth batter for the first out of the sixth. He exited after 6.1 innings with two runs, eight hits, no walks with eight strikeouts.

• A.J. Bumpass had  double for the second-straight day
• Jeremy Johnson and Mitch Holding had the team's other hits
• Korren Thompson and Nick Murray followed Kroger in relief
• Clayton Colvin entered the game in the eighth and got the last two outs
 
// KEY INNINGS
Bottom of the 1st  
The Tigers put runners on the corners with no outs after double and single to lead off the bottom of the inning. Kroger then got a strikeout looking and a pop up, but surrendered a RBI double. A ground out by the next batter ended the frame
Bottom of the 7th
• A single and a double later in the game allowed Auburn to tack on another run.
Bottom of the 8th
• The final three runs came on two singles, a double and two wild pitches in the Tigers' final at-bat

• Game two of the double header will begin at 5:30 p.m. ET
• Action returns to Marge Schott Stadium on Friday, March 8 when the Bearcats start a series against Bowling Green
