TicketsGULF SHORES, Ala. – Back into competition after just four days off, University of Cincinnati women's golf and sophomore Amalia Shahzan (Kedah, Malaysia) are both in fourth place following one round of play at the South Alabama/UAB Bama Beach Bash at Gulf Shores Golf Club.
The Bearcats turned in a first-round 317, complete with seven birdies and 43 par scores. Shahzan led the way for UC with a score of 74 in the first, including shooting 2-under-par on par-3 holes and sinking four birdies.
Three additional UC players are among the top 20 on the player leaderboard with junior Daniela Murcia (Bogotá, Colombia) slotting into a tie for 11th with a first-round 77, while sophomore Angela Lopez (Bogotá, Colombia) and senior Emma Wachtel (Rorschwihr, France/Jean Sturm Gymnasium) – competing as an individual – both shot an 80 to tie for 19th.
