TicketsUniversity of Cincinnati senior Austin Squires (Union, Ky./Ryle High School) carded an opening round 1-under par 70 Friday to tie for fifth, one stroke off the lead, at the Furman Intercollegiate in Greenville, S.C.
Squires started his round 2-under at the turn and battled back from three bogies with a birdie on his last hole to finish at 1-under 70. He enters Saturday's second round one stroke behind four players who posted 2-under 70s, including the Coastal Carolina duo of Zack Taylor and Wes Artac, Davdison's Alex Ross and Dartmouth's James Turner.

The Bearcats are tied for 11th place at 16-over 300. Virginia Tech leads the 21-team field after posting a 3-under 281.
