TicketsTAMPA, Fla. – University of Cincinnati baseball took the series from USF on Sunday as Garrett Schoenle led the team with a phenomenal performance on the mound.
The sophomore pitched into the ninth, giving up just four hits in 8.1 innings while striking out a career-best 12 batters. The one run he did allow came in the final inning after he left the game with one out and two runners on.
The Bearcats' offense did its part, scoring one run in four straight innings and being aggressive on the base paths with six stolen bases.

• Murphy started off UC's scoring with a single before A.J. Bumpass walked and Bellini hustled out a bunt single to load the bases. A sacrifice fly off the bat of Mason DeAnna allowed Murphy to score

• The Bearcats scored again during the next frame when Joey Bellini was hit, Stapp singled and Murphy swung at the first pitch he was offered and picked up an RBI with a base hit to right field

• The third run came via a Johnson single after DeAnna was hit by a pitch and moved to second on a wild pitch
Top of the 5th
• UC scored for the fourth consecutive inning when Joey Wiemer was hit, stole two bases and scored on a single by Bumpass
Bottom of the 9th
• A single and two walks loaded the bases for the Bulls before a ground out let in the only run they would score. With runners on second and third with two outs, Jace Mercer fielded a ground ball to second and Murphy was able to hang on to complete the out to end the game
