// SCOUTING THE TIGERS
The Tigers began their season with little to show from their initial hunts as they came up short against Vanderbilt, Winthrop and Arizona, but finally earned their first stripe in a 4-2 victory over Northern Arizona. The celebration was short lived as they once again came up empty in a hunt against ECU in a 4-2 loss. The tigers dug back in, licked their chops and pounced on Tulane in a 4-3 victory, but it was once again short lived as the Missouri Tigers came in to the Memphis den and showed who had the better stripes. Following the Missouri defeat, Memphis rallied and earned their stripes in victories over Minnesota, UConn and Lipscomb before getting swept by Old Dominion. The Tigers charged head first in battles against William & Mary, UAB and Samford and came out with three more victories to celebrate. After taking some time off between hunts, the Tigers found that their old tactics were rusty as they fell to Brown and Harvard.
The Tigers are led by Laura Bente and Lina Hohnhold who both carry 9-4 records in singles this season. Bente boasts a 7-1 record at court #2 while Hohnhold is 6-1 on court #6. Both Bente and Hohnhold enter the match carrying two-match win streaks in singles. Alisha Reayer, who holds a 6-5 record, enters the match against the Bearcats on a three-match win streak.
In doubles, the duo of Bente and Hohnhold are 4-1 for the duals season, including 3-1 on court #3.
// SCOUTING THE THUNDERING HURD
The Thundering Herd hasn't exactly stampeded out of the gate this season. The Herd fell to Kentucky before trampling Wright State and West Virginia State, but then found themselves overrun in the next nine matches. The tough stretch for Marshall included losses to James Madison, Charlotte, Louisville, Penn State, FIU, North Texas, West Virginia and were swept by Virginia Tech and Furman. The Herd finally regained their strength and showed who was boss in a three-match win streak that included victories over Middle Tennessee, UAB and New Orleans before being swept away on the road at the Tulane Green Wave.
Anna Smith leads the Herd with a 10-6 record in singles during the dual season, including a 9-6 showing on court #1. While her 7-9 record may not look imposing, Liz Stefancic carries a six-match win streak in to the match against the Bearcats. Madi Ballow currently holds an 8-8 record, including a 5-2 showing on court #5, and enters the contest on a four-match win streak of her own.
In doubles, the Herd are led by the duo of Anna Smith and Daniela Dankanych who hold a 4-4 record and enter the match on a three-match win streak.
