TicketsAUSTIN, Texas –The University of Cincinnati track and field team got the 2019 outdoor season underway Wednesday with a pair of student-athletes competing in the heptathlon at the 92nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
Angelica Lightfoot broke her own UC heptathlon record mark and had the 10th-best toss of all-time in the shot put and sits 12th after the first four events Wednesday.
Lightfoot, who tallied 3,117 points, placed second in the shot put with a throw of 13.50m (44-03.50). She broke her own UC heptathlon record of 12.41m (40-08.75) with an almost four-foot personal best. Her mark also breaks UC's all-time Top-10, checking in at 10th place.
Naomi Urbano is in 22nd place with a 2,851-point showing in Wednesday's events. Her top mark came in the high jump with a leap of 1.69m (5-06.50) which placed her seventh among competitors.
Heptathlon field events lead things off at noon ET Thursday in Texas. The afternoon session of on-track running events starts at 5:30 p.m. with the 400m hurdles prelims and continues at 8 p.m. with the distance carnival.
OTHER WEKEEND EVENTS
Along with the action in Austin, UC will also compete at Texas State's Bobcat Invitational, the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, California and Cedarville's Yellow Jacket Open.
