MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Bearcats women's tennis team was back on the road for an American Athletic Conference match up in Memphis, Tennessee with the Memphis Tigers. The Bearcats fought to the finish, but came up short as the Tigers took the victory 4-1.

Memphis jumped out early taking court #1 in a 6-2 showing and then clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 victory on court #2.
Antonella Bramato/Alexia Coutino move to 9-5 for the season.
Anna Philp/Ioana Guna are now 7-5 for the season.

Looking to swing the momentum back in their favor, the Bearcats came out firing in singles, but Memphis continued to press their lead with a 6-2, 6-3 victory on court #6. Caroline Morton got the Bearcats on the board as she notched a 6-4, 6-4 victory on court #3. It would prove to be the lone point for the Bearcats in the match. Ioana Guna faced off with Memphis' Laura Bente on court #2 and would not be taken down easily as she pressed forward, but Bente got the better in a 7-5, 7-5 victory. Katherine Cao clinched the match victory for the Tigers with a 6-3, 7-5 victory on court #5.
Maria Santilli remains 10-2 in singles for the season, including 7-0 on the #5 court.
Emma Miceli moves to 9-3 for the season.
Antonella Bramato remains 7-3 for the season.
Caroline Morton moves to 9-5 for the season.

"I was really pleased with everyone's approach to today's match, unfortunately our tennis wasn't quite good enough. A lot of that had to do with a Memphis team that really played a solid match.
