CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati baseball lost both games of a double header on Friday to start the series with Tulane. UC gave up a big inning in each game to lose 19-4 and 8-1.
GAME ONE
// NOTABLES
• Jace Mercer went 2-for-2 in the leadoff spot with three walks and a run scored
• Joey Bellini had two hits behind him in the order while Eric Santiago finished 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI
• A.J. Kullman had the start on the mound and was followed by Isaac Olson, Nick Murray and Clayton Colvin
• Murray pitched the most innings out of the relievers, going 3.0 frames with one earned run and one walk with two strikeouts

• Tulane started its scoring early and got help as an error started the game. A single, double, sacrifice fly and homerun followed, all unearned runs

• The Bearcats answered back with a run after Mercer walked, stole second and scored after both Bellini and Wyatt Stapp singled

• The Green Wave added three in the next inning on a walk, single, double, two fielder's choices and a two-run base hit

• UC was able to score two in the third on a Santiago double after Cole Murphy reached on an error and A.J. Bumpass singled

• The big hurt came from Tulane in a nine-run fourth. Those runs came via five walks, a hit batter, a ground out, three singles, a wild pitch and an error

• The Bearcats tallied one in the bottom of the inning when Johnson singled and made his way around to score on a Joey Wiemer base hit

• A three-run homerun allowed Tulane to tack on three more runs in the final frame to make it a 19-4 final
GAME TWO

• The Bearcats scattered five hits throughout the order with the only for extra-bases coming on a Santiago RBI triple
• Evan Shawver started the game on the mound and was followed by Nathan Moore and Chase Stewart who pitched 2.0 innings each
• Moore allowed one run and one hit while walking two and striking out four
• Stewart did not give up a run, hit or a walk and struck out two

• Tulane was once again able to score in the first. A single and double allowed the first run of game two to score
Top of the 2nd
• A solo homerun made it a 2-0 game
Top of the 4th
• The big inning for the Green Wave came via a five-run fourth. A walk, double, fielder's choice, back-to-back doubles and an error allowed the lead to become 7-0
Bottom of the 4th
• The Santiago triple let in the Bearcats' sole run of the night, scoring Mitch Holding who walked earlier in the frame

• The final run of the game came on a walk, error, wild pitch and ground out
