JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – University of Cincinnati women's golf bounced back from a first-round score of 304 with a second-round 296 – a spring-season best – on day one at the sixth annual UNF Collegiate at Jacksonville Golf & Country Club.

Junior Alyssa Burritt (Bellbrook, Ohio/Bellbrook) led the way for the Bearcats with a two-round 147, including a first-round 71 (-1). As a team, UC is in 14th place in a highly-competitive field.

Back in action after a few weeks off, Burritt set the pace for the Red & Black with a 71 in the opening round, featuring two birdies and holding par on 15 holes. The junior wasn't able to replicate the below-par round in the second with a score of 76.

Sophomore Vanessa Manrique (Bogotá, Colombia) -- fresh off a tie for 12th at the Amelia Island Collegiate -- struggled a bit to start in Jacksonville with a first-round 81, but responded with a 1-under-par 71 in the second, including five birdie scores.

Senior Anika Hitt (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) and sophomore Angela Lopez (Bogotá, Colombia) both showed in improvement from the first round to the second with Hitt going from a 77 to a 75 and Lopez moving from a 78 to a 74. The pair combined to hole five birdies in the second round.

In her first appearance on UC's scoring team, freshman Lily Rinker (Toledo, Ohio/Saint Ursula Academy) turned in scores of 78 and 82, including four-straight birdies on the back nine holes of the second round.

The third and final round of the tournament will begin Tuesday morning with an 8:30 a.m. ET shotgun start. Follow along with live scoring here.

// HEAD COACH JANET CARL ON THE BEARCATS
"Today was a good day. We have things to work on, but we met several goals we had set. Today was a total team effort. We were able to improve from the first round. The ladies are making solid decisions and we are seeing improved short games. We are still rusty, but that is a given with our winter weather this year as we just haven't been able to be outside practicing as much as we would like. Tomorrow it is important that we go out and improve ourselves. We will need to finish our round strong and not throw away one shots in the last few holes. I am very proud of the fight every player put up today."
