University of Cincinnati baseball heads to Connecticut for a three-game conference series with No. 22 UConn this weekend.
 
Due to forecasted inclement weather in the area, the teams moved up Friday's game to a 1 p.m. start time and the series-opener will be played at J.O. Christian Field in Storrs, Conn.  Saturday's contest remains at 2 p.m. at Dunkin' Donuts Park in Hartford, Conn. The series finale will be Sunday at noon, also in Hartford.

UConn entered the national ranking this week, coming in at No. 22 on both the Baseball America and D1Baseball.com polls
• The Huskies have won both of their conference series so far. They opened with a 2-1 weekend at Houston and then went 2-1 last weekend at UCF
• UC is 13-24 all-time against UConn
• The Huskies visited Marge Schott Stadium last season with the Bearcats taking the first game 1-0 before dropping the next two by scores of 7-6 and 8-5
• UConn was ranked No. 24 when the teams met in 2018
• The two teams also squared off in the first round of the AAC Tournament with UConn winning 6-2

• Every team in the American has now faced a conference foe for a weekend series
• Two American teams sit in the top 25 this week with ECU at No. 11 and UConn at No. 25
• The conference sits in fifth place overall in RPI among all 31 Division I conferences this week
• Five of the nine AAC teams sit in the top 80 in RPI: ECU (No. 16), UConn (No. 25), UCF (No. 36), Wichita State (No. 68) and Houston (No. 75)
• ECU remains the leader in the conference with a perfect 6-0 AAC record
• UConn is second at 4-2 while Tulane and Wichita State are tied in third place at 2-1
• Cincinnati and Memphis come next with even 3-3 conference records entering the weekend
 
// JOE NUXHALL CLASSIC UP NEXT
• The 11th annual Joe Nuxhall Classic will be held at Marge Schott Stadium next Tuesday and Wednesday
• Wright State and Miami will play the opening game on Tuesday at 3 p.m. and UC will follow by taking on Xaiver
• The four teams will also play at 3 p.m. and approximately 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday with matchups determined by Tuesday's results
• The tournament began in 2009 to honor its namesake, the legendary Reds player and announcer Joe Nuxhall, as well as promote and celebrate amateur baseball in southwest Ohio
• Cincinnati, Miami, Wright State and Xavier have participated in the classic every year
• UC hosts in odd years while Miami hosts in even years
• Wright State has won four titles, UC three, Miami two and Xavier one
• Nuxhall became the youngest player ever to appear in a MLB game when he took the mound for the Cincinnati Reds against the St. Louis Cardinals at Crosley Field on June 10, 1944 at the age of 15
• He played for 16 years in the Major Leagues and immediately upon retiring, began a 40-year broadcasting career with the Reds
• UC is 10-10 all-time in the event and won it in 2010, 2011 and 2014. The Bearcats were the runner-up in 2013, 2015 and 2017
