CINCINNATI – For the fifth time this year and the fourth week in a row, University of Cincinnati lacrosse's Kylie Nause has been named the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week, the league office announced today. Nause, the top scoring rookie in the newly formed AAC, is joined by Sam Mlkvy, who was selected for a spot on the weekly Honor Roll as the Bearcats (8-5, 2-0 AAC) defeated Butler (19-6) and ECU (14-5) last week.

// TOP ROOKIE
Although she saw her hat trick streak come to an end at seven in a row, Nause continued to find the back of the cage last week as she scored four goals (2-of-2 on free-position shots) against Butler before scoring three points on two goals and one assist at ECU, giving her seven points on six goals and one assist. Nause currently ranks fourth overall in goals in the AAC with 2.15 per contest and tied for 10th in points with 2.38 while continuing to lead all rookies in scoring with 28 goals and 31 points. In fact, her goal and point totals are 10 and 5, respectively, ahead of the next freshman in the league. She is currently third on the team in points with 31 and second in goals with 28.

// ROOKIE AWARDS
Nause's honor this week is not only the fifth of her career, but also marks the fourth week in a row she has garnered the accolade. The first freshman honored for the Bearcats as a member of the AAC, Nause has now tied Monica Borzillo's program record for rookie awards in a season as both have five to their credit after Borzillo earned hers in 2017 in the Big East.

// MLKVY CONTINUES TO DRAW
Mlkvy has been a workhorse for the Bearcats as she scored three goals and added one assist for four points in both games played last week (vs. Butler, at ECU). On top of that, Mlkvy secured 11 draw controls (6 vs. Butler and 5 at ECU) while setting up the Bearcats for other draws won as UC secured 27-of-46 draws in the two games (57%). Mlkvy currently ranks second in the AAC in both draw controls (5.00) and caused turnovers (2.15) and rose to the #2 position in season draw controls at UC with 65, making her the first player in Bearcats history to have 60+ draws in multiple seasons.

// RUNNING TOTAL
Adding in this week's pair of accolades, the Bearcats have garnered 16 total awards in 2019 including three attacker of the week (Borzillo three times), one midfielder of the week (Adams), five freshman of the week (Nause five times), one defensive player of the week (Durso), and six Honor Roll selections (one each by Adams and Borzillo and two each for both Mlkvy and Taylor Gysin).

// NEXT UP
The Bearcats are back in action this Saturday when they play host to the Temple Owls in a noon AAC game at Gettler Stadium. Fans are encouraged to Wear White for the game.
