The Bearcats finished their local season with a heated match against crosstown rival Xavier. The Musketeers claimed an early 1-0 lead following doubles, but the Bearcats did not make it easy on them. After Xavier claimed court #2, the duo of Emma Miceli and Caroline Morton evened things up with a 6-3 victory on court #3. Philp/Guna move to 9-6 for the season.

Miceli/Morton stand at 8-6 for the season.

The team stands at 29-19 in doubles play during dual matches.

As play moved to singles, the intensity only increased. Anna Philp got the Bearcats on the board with a strong showing on court #5 as she defeated Xavier's Hunter Roper 6-2, 6-3. The Musketeers would respond by taking courts #1 and #3 to give themselves a 3-1 lead in the match, but the Bearcats were not going away quietly. The team continues to embody Fight to the Finish as Maria Santilli cut the Musketeers lead following a 6-4, 6-2 victory on court #4. Ioana Guna wasn't far behind as she tied the match, and played senior day spoiler, with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 showing on court #2. Everyone's attention turned to court #6 where Xavier had taken the first set 7-6 (2), but Emma Miceli came roaring back to even the match with a 6-4 showing in the second set. It wouldn't be a rivalry without drama, this was the third year in a row the match ended in a 4-3 score, as the third set was a back and forth heated battle between Miceli and her opponent, but in the end Xavier claimed the victory following a 6-4 third set.

// SCOUTING THE PIRATES
The Pirates of ECU have laid waste to nearly every opponent they have come across this season. Opponents attempting to overtake the Pirates stronghold have been forced to surrender every time this year and the Pirates have been victorious in all but two of their voyages.

The Pirates opened the season with back-to-back surrenders at the hands of the NC State Wolfpack and North Caroline Tarheels. Following those surrenders, the Pirates regrouped and since have been the terrors of the high seas winning twenty straight matches. They've braved the Tulane Green Wave, tamed the Tigers of Memphis, clipped the wings of the Temple Owls, domesticated the Wildcats of Davidson and squashed the Spiders of Richmond among many others in their travels.

The Pirates lead commander is Celia Ruiz who holds a 16-1 record in singles play this season, including a 13-1 showing on court #1 and holds a current win streak of fifteen matches. After Ruiz the Pirates boast a bevy of fierce fighters including Alisa Diercksen, Nastja Rettich, Lisa Hofbauer and Martina Paladini-Jennings. Diercksen holds a 14-2 record, including a perfect 12-0 on court #3, and enters the match on a fourteen-match win streak. Rettich, who claims a thirteen-match win streak, holds a record of 13-3 which includes a 10-1 showing on court #6. Hofbauer holds a 12-3 record with all of her matches taking place on court #1 this season. Paladini-Jennings is 11-3 with her top showing, a 6-2 record, occurring on court #4 and currently holds an eight-match win streak.

In doubles the Pirates are led by the duo of Celia Ruiz and Minette Van Vreden. Ruiz and Van Vreden have compiled a 13-1 record, including 12-1 on court #2, and are currently on a thirteen-match win streak. Alisa Diercksen and Lisa Hofbauer have battled to a 13-4 record with all matches being played on court #1.

// SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
The Huskies haven't exactly been the good dogs thus far this season. UConn enters the weekend with a 5-10 record and will face ECU before taking on the Bearcats. After opening the season with a 6-1 victory over Quinnipiac, the Huskies were left out in the rain as they dropped matches to Brown, Dartmouth, Drexel and Michigan State. They found a quick treat in a victory over Detroit Mercy, but were back out in the dog house as they lost to Memphis, Lipscomb and Stony Brook. Their best three match stretch included a loss to North Florida that was bookended by a pair of victories over Temple and Georgia Southern. After running from the Houston Cougars and laying at the feet of the UMass Minutemen, they showed they were top dog as they swept the Byrant Bulldogs.

The Huskies are led in doubles by Julieanne Bou who holds an 8-5 record, including 5-3 on court #2, and enters the weekend on a two-match win streak. On the doubles side, the duo of Julieanne Bou and Gillian Perrotta hold a 7-3 record with all matches being played on court #1.
