CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati track and field team, fresh off a sweep of the team titles at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational last weekend, will join 31 other schools in competition at the 52nd Tennessee Relays this weekend.

CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati track and field team, fresh off a sweep of the team titles at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational last weekend, will join 31 other schools in competition at the 52nd Tennessee Relays this weekend.

The meet runs Thursday through Saturday at the Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Admission is free for all sessions.

A limited number of Bearcats were in action Friday with day one of the decathlon and heptathlon, as well as the men's hammer and javelin throws.

Jeremy Hayton, competing in his first collegiate decathlon, sits 11th after the first day of action with 3,515 points. His best event on the day was the high jump, placing fourth with the fifth-best decathlon high jump mark in UC history, a leap of 1.98m.

Sydney Spears and Katie Straus are placed No. 9 and No. 10, respectively, through four of seven events in the heptathlon. The duo posted identical marks in the first two events, the 100m hurdles (14.58) and high jump (1.62m). The high jump marks topped the field. Spears' day-one tally of 3,043 psis the No. 6 day-one, heptathlon mark in the UC record book, while Straus' 3,007 points rank No. 7.

Sam Meece (57.52m), Chris Province (52.18m) and Danny Jones (48.33m) finished 14-16-18 in the hammer throw, respectively. Jones toss was a season and personal-best mark.

Nicholas Lauria took 11th in the javelin with a toss of 59.90m. Province placed 17th with a season-best and PR heave of 53.82m.

Live results from the 52nd Tennessee Relays will be provided by AdkinsTrak Timing Associates for the entirety of the meet. Additionally, live broadcasts will be available Friday and Saturday via SEC Network+, available online and through the WatchESPN app.

Thirty-one programs are competing in Knoxville this weekend, including Cincinnati, Tennessee, Ashland (D-II), Auburn, Brown, Carson-Newman (D-II), Central Michigan, Cornell, Duke, ETSU, Eastern Michigan, Findlay (D-II), Furman, High Point, Illinois State, Indiana, Jacksonville State, Kent State, Kentucky, Liberty, Louisville, MTSU, NC State, Ohio State, Penn, Pittsburgh, Southern Illinois, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech and Western Kentucky.
