University of Cincinnati senior Austin Squires (Union, Ky./Ryle High School) ranks tied for ninth after carding a 4-under par 71-69=140 Saturday during first- and second-round action at the Boilermaker Invitational at the Kampen Golf Course (Par 72; 7,465 yards) in West Lafayette, Ind.

Squires posted a second-round 3-under 69 during Saturday's second round, climbing six places on the individual leaderboard. His afternoon round included four birdies, only one bogie and 13 par scores. In the first round earlier Saturday morning, Squires registered three birdies, a pair of birdies and 13 par scores to post a 1-under 71.
Squires sits five strokes behind tournament leader Jordan Hahn of Wisconsin, who owns a 9-under 67-68=135 after 36 holes.
The Bearcats are 10th in the team standings at 8-over 290-294=584. Illinois State leads the 15-team field at 16-under 283-277=560.
UC freshman Sam Jean (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove High School) ranks second among all Bearcats, tied for 58th at 5-over 74-75=149. One stroke behind Jean is Bearcats teammate redshirt sophomore Andy Mayhew (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood High School), tied for 63rd place at 6-over 78-72=150. UC sophomore Nicolas Osterburg (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian High School) and redshirt freshman Mason Lenhart (Prospect, Ky./North Oldham High School) are tied 68th place at 7-over 151. Osterburg recorded rounds of 72 and 79 while Lenhart carded rounds of 73 and 78.
