PALM COAST, Fla. – After wrapping Sunday's opening round at the American Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championship at the Conservatory Course at Hammock Beach Resort in sixth place, University of Cincinnati women's golf held steady during Monday's second round with a score of 303 to tie for sixth.
Junior Daniela Murcia (Bogotá, Colombia) followed her first round, 2-under-par 70 – which was just one shot off the lead – with a second-round 75 to drop from a tie for second to a tie for sixth to pace the Bearcats. Her round featured 13 par scores, as well as a birdie on the par-5 hole No. 18.
A couple UC golfers bounced back on Monday with improved rounds. Junior Alyssa Burritt (Bellbrook, Ohio/Bellbrook) responded to an opening-round 76 with a second-round 73, including shooting 2-under-par on the back nine holes. Senior Anika Hitt (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) charged forward today with a score of 77 after carding a 79 yesterday. In addition, sophomore Vanessa Manrique (Bogotá, Colombia) remained consistent with another round of 78 to join Hitt and sophomore Angela Lopez (Bogotá, Colombia) in a tie for 40th on the player leaderboard.
For Tuesday's final round, the Bearcats will be paired with Tulane and will begin teeing off at 8:40 a.m. ET. Follow along with live scoring here. See round three pairings here.
// COACH CARL ON THE BEARCATS
"The ladies put up another good fight today. The wind was playing havoc with shots, but the Bearcats kept being patient and sticking to their processes. The end result, while not as good as yesterday, kept us tied for sixth. The difference between us and fourth place is just a few more putts to drop. Again, Daniela put in a great day and currently sits tied for sixth. Alyssa moved up the leaderboard, too, tied for 15th. We need another great team effort from the entire team tomorrow, just like the last two days. We are proud of the team and their first two rounds."
