University of Cincinnati baseball hits the road this week for a Tuesday night contest at Miami (OH). Game time is set for 5 p.m.
 
// OPPONENT OVERVIEW
• UC is 74-104 all-time against Miami
• The two teams met in the championship game of the Joe Nuxhall Classic earlier this season with the RedHawks able to win for the third year in a row with an eleven-inning victory
• The week after the Nuxhall Classic, Miami returned to Marge Schott Stadium where the Bearcats posted a big 15-5 victory
Joey Bellini, Joey Wiemer, Cole Murphy and Jeremy Johnson all had multi-hit nights in the win
• The RedHawks are 33-13 this season
• They are coming off a series split at Ohio
• Starting with the 15-5 loss at UC, Miami is 7-4 in its last 11 games
 
// TWO WEEKS LEFT
• Just two weeks remain in the regular season before the top eight American Athletic Conference teams travel down to Clearwater, Florida for the 2019 tournament
• UC remains in third place with a 11-10 record
• Tulane has a two game lead at 10-7 while Houston and UConn are both a half game back of UC with 9-9 records
• The Bearcats hold the tie-breaker over UConn but do not over Houston or Tulane
• ECU continues its steady conference lead at 16-2
• This weekend, ECU travels to Wichita State, Tulane goes to Houston, Cincinnati travels to Memphis and UConn hosts USF
• While the Bearcats have a bye in the final regular season weekend, ECU will host Memphis, Tulane hosts UConn and Houston will make the trip to UCF
 
// DEFENSE DAZZLES
With the season winding down, the Bearcats rank third in the nation in double plays and sixth in double plays turned per game
Jace Mercer has been a part of 31 of the team's 50 double plays while Joey Bellini has been involved in 26, Cole Murphy in 21, Griffin Merritt in 19 and Eric Santiago in 14
• The outfielders have also been instrumental in UC's double play total, as Joey Wiemer, Jeremy Johnson and A.J. Bumpass have seven double plays turned between them
• The team's .978 fielding percentage ranks 25 in the country
 
// TOURNAMENT DETAILS
• The top eight of nine teams in the conference will qualify for the AAC Tournament held Tuesday, May 21 through Sunday, May 25 at Spectrum Field in Clearwater, Florida
• The tournament's schedule has been modified for this season
• All eight teams will play on Tuesday with the losers of those four games facing off in elimination games on Wednesday
• The winners of Tuesday's contests will have Wednesday off and play each other on Thursday
• Games continue on Friday with two more elimination games
• Saturday will be semifinal action before the championship game held at noon on Sunday
