CINCINNATI - With the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the books, the league office has looked over all the marks and today announced the recipients of the 2019 AAC Outdoor Track & Field Most Outstanding Performance Awards with University of Cincinnati senior Annette Echikunwoke receiving one of the honors. Echikunwoke won her third AAC hammer title and accumulated 20 points in three events as the Bearcats finished as the meet runners-up in Wichita, Kan.

The awards are given to student-athletes who recorded the highest-ranking marks on the NCAA Descending Order List at the AAC Outdoor Championships over the weekend. Echikunwoke was honored for her mark in the hammer in which she threw the ball out to 65.41m (214-07), good enough to move her up to #13 on the current lists and earn the Outstanding Performance Award for Women's Field.

In the competition, Echikunwoke smashed her own American record in the women's hammer throw, winning her third conference title in this event. On her first attempt, the All-America thrower bested her own conference mark set three years ago with a distance of 64.51m (211-07). She then re-set her record on her third attempt and bested the all-time American Athletic Conference mark with her PR distance of 65.41m (214-07). Her top throw at the meet ranks 13th nationally. Echikunwoke also placed second in the shot put with her distance of 15.50m (50-10.25) and scored in the discus throw with her mark of 47.01m (154-03).

The award this year for Echikunwoke is the fourth of her career and the third in a row for the Bearcats at the outdoor championships. Individually, Echikunwoke has earned the performance awards at the 2016 and 2017 indoor meets as well as the 2017 and 2019 outdoor meets. Along with her awards in 2017 and 2019, the Bearcats have won the last three outdoor female field accolades after Loretta Blaut earned last year's award.
