CINCINNATI – Jeremiah Davenport has signed a national letter of intent to attend the University of Cincinnati and play basketball for the Bearcats beginning with the 2019-2020 season, head coach John Brannen announced Tuesday.

"Our staff is extremely excited about adding Jeremiah to the Bearcats family," Brannen said. "Jeremiah is a winner. Whether it's at Moeller High School where he played for Hall of Fame Coach Carl Kremer or Hargrave Military Academy and Coach Lee Martin. He brings the size and shot-making ability we look for in our perimeter players. I hope Bearcats Nation joins me in welcoming Jeremiah back home to Cincinnati."

Davenport, a 6-foot-7, 205-pound wing player from Cincinnati's Moeller High School, played the 2018-19 season at Hargrave Military Academy (Chatham, Va.), averaging 16.5 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.1 steals while shooting 42 percent from three-point range. He helped guide the Tigers to a 35-3 overall mark last season while earning most valuable player honors at the Legacy Nissan Classic and National Prep Showcase.

As a senior at Moeller in 2017-18, Davenport earned Greater Cincinnati Boys Basketball Player of the Year accolades, Greater Catholic League South Co-Player of the Year honors and was named an Ohio Division I Boys Basketball Third-Team selection by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association. He helped lead the Crusaders to consecutive state championship game appearances as a junior and senior, winning the title in 2017-18 while averaging 15.7 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists and shooting 59 percent from the field. Moeller posted a 55-4 mark with Davenport playing varsity as a junior and senior, including a 27-3 record in 2017-18.

Davenport scored a team-high 22 points on 10-of-14 shooting with eight rebounds and five assists in Moeller's 83-65 win over Solon in the 2018 Division I state championship game.

Davenport comes from a basketball family. Older brothers, Michael (St. Bonaventure, 2008-12) and Josh (Winthrop, 2013-17), and sister, Naomi (West Virginia, 2017-19) all played NCAA Division I basketball.
