CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati baseball closed the regular season at Great American Ball Park with a 10-2 loss to Xavier Saturday night.
 
Although the Musketeers won the series, the teams split their four games played this season. UC enters postseason play at 26-28 and Xavier sits at 25-29.
 
With UCF beating Houston in extra innings Saturday night, the Bearcats will be the No. 2 seed at next week's American Athletic Conference Tournament. It is the highest conference tournament seeding for UC since 2008, when they were also a No. 2 as a member of the Big East. UC will take on No. 7 Memphis on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

• The Bearcats' hits were scattered throughout the order, with Jeremy Johnson hitting a double and Cole Murphy smashing a homerun
• Clayton Colvin and Korren Thompson each threw a clean inning to get work in
• Andrew Noelker went 1.2 frames and Brennan Dolwick went 0.2
• Tanner Schimmoeller struck out two in the final frame
• Chase Stewart was tagged with the loss after his 2.2 innings of work

Bottom of the 2nd
The Musketeers were able to tally a big second inning with four runs. A walk, single and a bunt allowed the first run to score. The others came after another walk, double and a sacrifice fly
Bottom of the 4th
• A single, walk and stolen base put two runners in scoring position, allowing Xavier to make it a 5-0 game on a sacrifice fly
Top of the 6th
• Murphy blasted a solo homerun in the sixth to get the Bearcats on the board
Bottom of the 6th
• A double, single, sacrifice fly and two-homerun let Xavier get that run back and some as it increased its lead to 8-1
Bottom of the 7th
• Another sacrifice fly for the Musketeers made it a 9-1 ball game
Top of the 8th
• J.P. Bitzenhofer led off the eighth with a single and was able to score later on a Eric Santiago single, UC's second run of the night
Bottom of the 8th
• Once again Xavier was able to answer as they walked and tripled in the eighth
