CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati baseball closed the regular season at Great American Ball Park with a 10-2 loss to Xavier Saturday night.
Although the Musketeers won the series, the teams split their four games played this season. UC enters postseason play at 26-28 and Xavier sits at 25-29.
With UCF beating Houston in extra innings Saturday night, the Bearcats will be the No. 2 seed at next week's American Athletic Conference Tournament. It is the highest conference tournament seeding for UC since 2008, when they were also a No. 2 as a member of the Big East. UC will take on No. 7 Memphis on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

• The Bearcats' hits were scattered throughout the order, with Jeremy Johnson hitting a double and Cole Murphy smashing a homerun

• Murphy blasted a solo homerun in the sixth to get the Bearcats on the board

• J.P. Bitzenhofer led off the eighth with a single and was able to score later on a Eric Santiago single, UC's second run of the night
