Pair of Men’s Soccer Signees Named to Best XI Teams

FRISCO, Texas – Based on their standout play in the spring 2019 season, University of Cincinnati men's soccer signees Ben Hegge (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) and Sam Robinson (Oxford, Ohio/Talawanda) were both selected for the US Youth Soccer Great Lakes Conference Best XI teams.

FRISCO, Texas – Based on their standout play in the spring 2019 season, University of Cincinnati men's soccer signees Ben Hegge (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller) and Sam Robinson (Oxford, Ohio/Talawanda) were both selected for the US Youth Soccer Great Lakes Conference Best XI teams.
 
The Best XI teams recognize the top performers in the Premier I Division of each gender age group that held competition in the spring season. Hegge, who played with CUP 00 Gold, was represented in the 19U boys age group, while Robinson, who competed with CUP Gold 01, was a part of the 18U honorees.
 
Head coaches within each division used a nomination and voting process to select players deserving of recognition for their performance on the field. The Best XI teams are presented in a 4-4-2 formation, with one goalkeeper, four defenders, four midfielders and two forwards recognized in each division.

The Great Lakes Conference is one in a network of 13 conferences that comprise the multi-state tier of the US Youth Soccer Leagues Program. Each conference provides high-level competition at a targeted local level. Premier I Division teams compete in conference play for opportunities for advancement to the US Youth Soccer Regional Championships and the US Youth Soccer National League.

At Moeller, Hegge was the 2018 Greater Catholic League (GCL) South Co-Player of the Year and was named MVP for the West Team at the 2018 Boys High School All-American Game. At Talawanda, Robinson was an All-Southwest Ohio Conference (SWOC) First Team selection and a First Team Cincinnati Enquirer Fall All-Star and Second Team All-State honoree in 2018.
