University of Cincinnati swimming and diving was recognized by the by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA) this week as Scholar All-America for the 2019 spring semester as both the men and women's teams excelled in the classroom.

The CSCAA handed out the distinction to 777 individual teams across all NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA divisions. To qualify, teams must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the semester.

The women barely missed sitting in the top-ten nationally in GPA after posting a program-best 3.67. The team is the conference leader in GPA, with ECU sitting in second (3.56) and Houston in third (3.55). The women have held the highest mark in the American Athletic Conference for numerous semesters and were also runners-up at the AAC Championships this year for the second consecutive season.

On the men's side, the Bearcats earned a 3.20 in the classroom this spring, narrowly missing the highest mark in the AAC as SMU had a 3.21. In the pool, no team came close, as the men claimed a back-to-back AAC Championship, winning this year by a 146-point margin.

The program's success in the pool and in the classroom have made it the premier program in the AAC. UC will be back in action this fall, looking to continue to build on its recent achievements.
