Burritt Qualifies for U.S. Women’s Amateur

DAYTON, Ohio – University of Cincinnati women's golf rising senior Alyssa Burritt (Bellbrook, Ohio/Bellbrook) qualified for the 119th U.S. Women's Amateur on Thursday with a 2-under-par 70 during qualifying play at Walnut Grove Country Club.

DAYTON, Ohio – University of Cincinnati women's golf rising senior Alyssa Burritt (Bellbrook, Ohio/Bellbrook) qualified for the 119th U.S. Women's Amateur Championship on Thursday with a 2-under-par 70 during qualifying play at Walnut Grove Country Club.
 
Finishing in a tie for third in the 75-player field, Burritt went 1-under on the front nine, including a birdie on hole No. 1. She followed with a birdie on 10 and an eagle on 13 to go 1-under on the back to finish just one shot off the lead. With eight golfers qualifying, Louisville's Lauren Hartlage and Michigan State's Haylin Harris were co-medalists with scores of 69.
  
Last summer, the Ohio native won her second-straight Dayton Women's Metropolitan title. She continued on to tally a team-best 76.2 scoring average during 33 rounds of play this past season for UC.
 
This year's U.S. Women's Amateur is scheduled for Aug. 5-11 at Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi, with a field of 156 participants. The tournament will be televised by FOX Sports.
