CINCINNATI – A talented field with some the nation's top men's golf teams will compete at the 2019 Bearcat Invitational, Sept. 30-Oct. 1, at Coldstream Country Club. The home event for the Cincinnati men's golf team highlights the 2019-20 schedule announced Monday.

The 12-team field at the Bearcat Invitational features several nationally ranked squads from the 2018-19 campaign, including No. 30 Louisville, No. 31 Arkansas, No. 48 Kentucky and No. 69 Penn State, along with Illinois State, Lamar, Louisiana Tech, Miami (Ohio), Middle Tennessee, Wisconsin and Xavier. Four of the 12 teams in the field (Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisville and Middle Tennessee) participated in the 2019 NCAA regionals.

"When I started the Bearcat Invitational at Coldstream four years ago, my goal was to bring top quality golf to Cincinnati," UC head coach Doug Martin said. "That goal has been accomplished with the event. Coldstream has been a tremendous host and challenging venue for the visiting teams. I will continue my pursuit to bring the top programs around the country to this event."

// FALL SEASON SCHEDULE
Cincinnati starts the fall season at Duke's Rod Myers Invitational (Sept. 14-15 in Durham, N.C.) and takes part in the Old Town Club Collegiate Invitational hosted by Wake Forest (Sept. 23-24 in Winston-Salem, N.C.) before hosting the Bearcat Invitational.

The Wake Forest event is one of seven new tournaments on UC's schedule in 2019-20. The Bearcats close their fall schedule participating in three other new tournaments: the Crooked Stick Collegiate Invitational co-hosted by Indiana and Purdue (Oct. 14-15 in Indianapolis, Ind.), South Alabama's Steelwood Collegiate Invitational (Oct. 26-27 in Loxley, Ala.) and Charleston Southern's East Bay Deli Classic (Nov. 3-5 in Kiawah Island, S.C.).

"The fall schedule is full of great venues and four new events," Martin said. "My goal in the fall is to make the schedule very difficult. All our players play in tournaments throughout the summer and I feel we are best prepared to compete during the fall semester. We have a lot of experience returning yet we still will be very young, having no seniors on our roster."

// SPRING SCHEDULE
The spring schedule begins at the Colleton River Collegiate hosted by Michigan State (Mar. 1-2 in Bluffton, S.C.). Other March events include first-time visits to the Challenge at Concessions co-hosted by USF and Ohio State (Mar. 9-10 in Bradenton, Fla.) and the Craft Farms Intercollegiate co-hosted by South Alabama and Eastern Michigan (Mar. 30-31 in Gulf Shores, Ala.).

The Bearcats wrap up the regular season competing in the Mason Rudolph Championship hosted by Vanderbilt (Apr. 5-7 in Franklin, Tenn.) and the Shoal Creek Invitational co-hosted by Auburn and Kentucky (Apr. 13-14 in Birmingham, Ala.).

The American Athletic Conference Championship is scheduled for Apr. 21-23 in Tampa, Fla.

"The spring season will start later this year," Martin said. "We open up in early March in Hilton Head and have a quick turn around before heading to Florida. After the first two events, we take a short break before finishing the spring with three quality events in April. Our goal is for the spring schedule to prepare us for the AAC Championship played at Innisbrook near Tampa.

"The 2019-20 schedule excites me," Martin said. "We will play on two courses that have hosted major championships (Crooked Stick and Shoal Creek), a course that hosted the NCAA Championship (Concession) and Innisbrook that hosts a PGA Tour event every year. Hard to imagine playing a better schedule than we have put together for this season."
