The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) honored 1,126 teams, including 189 in NCAA Division I women's volleyball, with the 2018-19 Team Academic Award as announced by the organization this week.

The University of Cincinnati was recognized yet again with Team Academic Award honors. The award showcases collegiate and high school volleyball teams that display excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team GPA.

The Bearcats posted a 3.519 combined GPA this past spring and fall. 13 volleyball Bearcats were recently recognized by the American Athletic Conference for All-Academic distinction. The academic honors go hand-in-hand with athletic success as UC advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last fall for just the fifth time in program history.

The team officially reports in early August and will face Butler in an exhibition match on Wednesday, August 21 at 6 p.m. in Fifth Third Arena. The 2019 season begins at the Panther Classic in Pittsburgh August 30-31.
