CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati men's soccer Head Coach Hylton Dayes announced Monday the additions of John Amaya (Rye, New York/Rye/Bryant) and Paul Laubier (Lansargues, France/Baccalauréat) to complete the 2019 fall roster.
"We are pleased to add two talented players to our roster," said Dayes. "They both fill needs for us in the midfield and will fit our style of play and culture. With preseason fast approaching, it's good to be able to finalize our squad and get down to business of preparing for the season."
A transfer from Bryant University, Amaya played in 19 games for the Bulldogs over two seasons, tallying one scored goal. Before Bryant, the midfielder spent two years with the U.S. Soccer Development Academy and compiled a multitude of international experience, including competition in Sweden and Denmark.
"John comes to us with two years of NCAA Division I college playing experience which is valuable and balances out the youth in our squad. He is a technical player who can play central or wide in the midfield. He can create in the final third and is also a goal-scoring threat."
Laubier has impressive club credentials with recent playing experience with Toulouse Soccer Club and previously with U17 national champion Toulouse Football Club in 2017. A talented athlete, the midfielder is also accomplished in both swimming and running.
"Paul plays with great determination and works very hard for his teammates," said Dayes. "He does an excellent job of helping to be influential in the middle of the field and is a deep-lying midfielder that is good in possession. He reads the game very well and is also excellent on restarts."
